| Todd Pennycuff Named New Novi Head Coach |
 The Novi Department of Interscholastic Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Mr. Todd Pennycuff as just the 3rd Head Football Coach in Novi High School history. Mr. Pennycuff has been an educator within the Novi Community Schools since 1996 and is currently teaching within the Special Education Department.Todd brings a wealth of experience to Novi, having coached football a total of 21 years. He began his coaching career at Southwest Baptist University where he started as a student assistant working primarily with linebackers. After 2 seasons, Todd became a graduate assistant where he coached the offensive backfield. During his final two seasons at Southwest Baptist, Todd served as a full-time assistant coach working with tackles, tight ends, quarterbacks and running backs. After coaching six years at the collegiate level, Todd began his high school coaching career in Hartland, working for former Novi Head Coach Tab Kellepourey. Through the years as an assistant coach, Todd worked extensively with both offense and defense, ultimately serving as both an offensive and defensive coordinator at different points in his career. In 2004 Todd was the Assistant Head Coach / Offensive Coordinator of the South Lyon Lions who won MHSAA District and Regional Championships. For the past four seasons Todd has been a Head Coach, at Dearborn Heights Crestwood in 2006 and for the past three seasons at South Lyon East High School where he started a brand new football program. Novi Athletic Director Curt Ellis says of Coach Pennycuff, “we are extremely fortunate to have a coach of Todd’s caliber teaching within our school district. Because I believe athletics is an extension of the classroom, I felt it was very important for us to have a head football coach who is a teacher/coach from our school district. I was looking for someone who could maintain and ultimately enhance the standards of excellence within the football program originally established by John Osborne and most recently maintained by Tab Kellepourey. As a teacher in Novi, Todd is very familiar with the values of our school district, yet his experiences coaching outside of Novi have provided him with fresh perspectives which will ultimately add to our program.” Todd and his wife Jill reside in South Lyon with their son Grant. |
